The professor will teach courses to students in all years at the graduate level, in the Building Information Modelling Management (T412) and Construction Management (T403) graduate certificate programs in addition to other degrees, diplomas, and certificate level courses when required.Education / Certification / Designation:

  • Minimum Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a built environment discipline (i.e. architecture, civil, construction or façade engineering, building sciences, building services, urban planning, facilities management).
  • BIM industry certification is highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years of practical experience in the built environment using building information modelling (BIM) tools and processes.
  • Knowledge and experience in:
  • BIM tools for quantity extraction, data extraction and re-use in BIM, model coordination/clash detection, construction sequencing and 4D/5D simulation.
  • BIM for project procurement, across the supply chain, and BIM for on-site management and field engineering practices.
  • BIM Execution Plans.
  • A history of scholarship and peer reviewed publications will be an asset.
  • Prior post-secondary teaching training and experience in adult instructions techniques, and curriculum design experience will be preferred and will be applied in a variety of teaching and learning settings.

Knowledge / Skills Set:

  • A thorough knowledge of current trends in building information modelling and management, with proven ability to teach the entry-level practitioner in the classroom, laboratory, and online settings will be required. Academic leadership experience in a post-secondary program is an asset.
  • Must have experience with advanced learning technologies, including online delivery.
  • Involvement in innovation and professional development related to teaching, use of technology, and student success.
  • Ability to convey conceptual and practical aspects of subjects to students respecting their diverse backgrounds, experience and learning needs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and life-long learning.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.
