We’re always searching the globe for innovative, collaborative minds to join our best-in-class Aecon community!What is the Opportunity?Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Project Accountant will ensure proper tracking, analysis and forecasting of project costs, provide job costing information to project management, as well as assist with administrative duties. This project is located in lower mainland Vancouver.What You’ll Do Here:
- Responsible for construction project finance including compiling financial results and administrating the procure to pay and payroll process
- Process AP invoices and subcontractor payments in a timely manner according to internal policy
- Prepare monthly financial statements, cashflows and supporting schedules and reports.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations related to Balance Sheet & Income statement.
- Work with Project Management team to identify and forecast financial exposures.
- Work with project staff / project controls to review standard costs and analyze productivity data.
- Participate in the preparation of quarterly forecasts/ annual Business Plan for the project.
- Responsible for month-end closing including preparing and entering month end journal entries such as subcontractor accruals and cost transfers.
- Assist with the review & issue of project cost reports and with developing Estimated Costs at Completion (ECAC).
- Enter client billings into the applicable system.
- Ensure associated documentation is tracked, stored, and updated appropriately (ie. client billings, accounts payable etc.)
- Ensure all payroll, taxation and accounting practices are in compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies
- Establishing policies, procedures & processes for day-to-day operations of the project that align with Aecon Corporate.
- Main point of contact for client, and partner audit support.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Must possess 3+ years of office related experience with knowledge of accounting, purchasing, accounts payable, and payroll.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Experience in construction or related industry is preferred.
- Experience with SAP and Business Objects is valued.
- Progressive experience that indicates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence without specific authority.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong ability to think creatively, challenge the status quo, deal with ambiguity.
- History of strong personal performance and value add to the business.
- Demonstrated success working with internal/ external stakeholders.
- Strong financial acumen and relevant financial skills, including quantitative problem solving.
- Broad business knowledge, end-to-end thinking, and organizational awareness.
