Job description: Project Accountant (Hybrid)Our client is seeking a Project Accountant to join their team. This role is responsible for overseeing job costing, financial analysis, and reporting activities, while ensuring accurate setup, maintenance, and closure of project accounts. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Project Accountant will also supervise finance team members and collaborate with project managers to support forecasting and performance tracking. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in accounting within industrial contracting, construction, or manufacturing environments, along with advanced Excel skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving and team leadership.Your success will be defined by your ability to:

• Ensure accurate setup, budgeting, and closure of project accounts
• Analyze job margins, SG&A accounts, and over/under performance
• Prepare client cost reports and support month-end processes including accruals and revenue recognition
• Provide cost analysis and variance reporting to support forecasting
• Maintain organized work files and job rate tables
• Collaborate with project and operations teams to support financial planning
• Supervise and mentor finance personnel, including performance reviews and development plans
• Deliver ad hoc reports and accounting support as needed
• Manage change and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

Your strengths include:

• 5-7 years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance
• Post-secondary diploma or certification (CPA designation preferred)
• Proven experience in job costing, financial analysis, and reporting
• Background in construction or manufacturing industries (preferred)
• Experience preparing financial statements
• Advanced Excel and proficiency in accounting software
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Experience supervising and mentoring staff
• Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
