Job Description

Job title: Project Financial Controller

Job description: Overview:The Project Controller will work with the finance and operations teams and report directly to the Controller. The Project Controller is responsible for the financial integrity of the company’s projects. This includes management of day-to-day accounting administration, cost reporting and audit participation as well as staff supervision, mentoring and training. Responsibilities:Project Accounting

  • Preparation of monthly cost reforecasting and profitability reporting as well as other
  • ad hoc analysis and reporting as required
  • Preparation of monthly revenue recognition on percentage completion, time and
  • materials and straightline projects
  • Provide information and reporting to project management and operations as
  • required
  • Strategic planning, project budget reviews and risk analysis with management
  • In depth understanding of contract/PO requirements for billing
  • Ensure accuracy of invoices and progress claims are properly prepared and
  • submitted to the client in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist with preparing invoicing on complex projects
  • Reconciliation of WIP
  • Assist with payment collections as needed
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms
  • Other duties, as required

Financial Analysis

  • Analyze past project performance to predict future performance and to advise the company on its project strategy
  • Creates project models based on analyses to support organizational decision making
  • Develops project plans and reports for organizational leaders 15 Position Profile Template

Technology

  • Develops automated reporting and forecasting tools for more efficient use of data
  • Super user of EPM with the ability to document and explain key assumptions used by the system and ability to identify opportunities for improvement 15

Audit

  • Primary contact with internal & external audit process by providing information and documentation as required
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS standards

Qualifications:Education

  • Degree in commerce or Business Administration with a major in Accounting is preferred
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation Required

Other Requirements

  • Experience working with an ERP a plus
  • Approximately 3 years experience as a CPA and knowledge of applicable project accounting/project experience
  • Experience in a multi-currency environment an asset
  • Litmos training if applicable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Project Accounting
  • Budget planning and analysis
  • Application of IFRS standard specifically IFRS 15 Revenue Recognition
  • Complex Data Analysis
