Job description: This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and growing residential owner / developer / builder in a Project Manager capacity. You will have the opportunity to oversee low and mid rise residential building development projects from concept to completion. The role will be hybrid, split between remote work and site based management in Edmonton and Red Deer, AB.Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of low rise and mid rise residential building projects in Alberta. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management and site supervision, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. This role requires effective collaboration with various stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and clients, to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, for low-rise residential building projects.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage project teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Budget Management: Prepare and manage project budgets, monitoring expenses, and ensuring cost control measures are in place.
  • Schedule Management: Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring all milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Quality Control: Implement and oversee quality control procedures to ensure construction meets all specified standards and requirements.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively.
  • Contract Management: Negotiate, prepare, and manage contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Progress Reporting: Prepare and present detailed progress reports to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting any variances from the project plan and recommending corrective actions.
  • Permits and Approvals: Obtain necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Project Closeout: Oversee the project closeout process, including final inspections, punch lists, and turnover to the client.

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of project management experience in the construction industry, with a focus on low-rise and mid-rise residential buildings.
  • Previous experience working in site superintendent roles overseeing low and mid rise residential construction builds is a definite asset
  • PMP or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of progression from Site Superintendent to Project Manager roles.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven track record of successfully managing large, complex projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget preparation, cost control, and schedule management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing project challenges.
  • In-depth knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and construction industry standards.
  • Possession of trades supply resources and established networks with reliable suppliers.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong commitment to quality.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites in Red Deer and Edmonton as needed.
  • Ability to start immediately.
