Bringing excellent critical thinking with a focus on process improvement, the Senior Consultant, Finance will support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and audit functions for Recovery Alberta. In this role, you will evaluate complex data, develop strategic solutions, design processes and implement policies that effectively address the organization’s evolving needs. Read on for full details and apply below!Description:Reporting to the Lead, Finance, the Senior Consultant, Finance supports the financial reporting and budgeting and forecast processes for Recovery Alberta, while focusing on process improvements. This lead position consults with stakeholders including operational leads, and senior management on prioritization, development, implementation, and evaluation of provincial initiatives, strategic plans, projects, or programs. The Senior Consultant analyzes evidence, assesses options, impacts, risks, makes recommendations, and develops conceptual models. In this leadership role, the incumbent supports the overseeing of budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and audit functions while serving as a key liaison between the Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction, health service organizations, and shared service partners. Furthermore, they lead, facilitate, organize, monitor, and report on the activities of stakeholders/workgroups in achieving outcomes on assigned work and/or projects. In addition to monitoring financial performance and providing strategic direction on funding models and performance, this role ensures internal controls and compliance are met. The Senior Consultant aids in the development of corporate and finance policies, writes briefing notes and creates presentations to support financial information presented to stakeholders. The position also reviews and creates signing authority process flows and supports risk assessment activities. Using their advanced communication and relationship management abilities, the position builds relationships, partnerships, and networks with stakeholders in the finance and corporate areas and may also functionally supervise members of work groups, project teams, and staff.

Required Qualifications:This position requires a post-secondary degree specializing in accounting or related field and five (5) or more years of accounting or financial experience. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Additional Required Qualifications:Strong analytical skills. Excellent technical skills in working with large complex spreadsheets. Practical experience in financial reporting, audit, policy development, change management and risk management. Effective communication & facilitation skills with strong organizational skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. In particular, the ability to write clearly and succinctly about complex issues and options. Uses strategic thinking, considering long-term goals assessing options and implications. Ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Proven ability to foster partnerships and cooperation to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization and managing within a unionized sector that interacts with numerous public agencies, government, boards, committees, and other partners.
Preferred Qualifications:Accounting experience preferably in health care or government setting.
