Job description: Term of App’t: Monday – Friday, 30 hours per weekStart date: ImmediatelyReporting to: Dean of Trades & ApprenticeshipsSalary:$50.07 – $56.75/hour, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% on all regular earnings in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.Description:Northern Lights College is recruiting to fill the role of Enhanced Carpentry Foundations – Residential Construction Instructor.This Residential Construction Training program encompasses the foundational, Level 1 and 2 apprenticeship learning outcomes of the STBC Program. Positions may rotate between Apprenticeship delivery and Foundation program instruction on a yearly basis. The Residential Construction – Enhanced Carpentry program works to build a full-scale construction project annually, completing the activities which best align with the intended learning outcomes for Level 1 and 2 learners. This project may be a residential build or a construction project such as a historical building or barn structure in partnership with a community partner.Qualifications:Required:

  • Inter Provincial Red Seal Carpentry certification and apprenticeship certificate
  • A minimum of 5 years of carpentry experience
  • Up to date knowledge of current building and energy codes
  • Must demonstrate the ability to deal with adult and high school students in a professional and supportive manner
  • The ability to be an effective and positive team member is essential

Preferred:

  • A Level 1 First Aid ticket valid until the end of the contract.
  • Experience teaching adult learners (including apprentices of the field) and dual credit students
  • Completion of the Provincial Instructors Diploma Program (PIDP) or an equivalent credential
