We are located right at the U of A campus!The Retail Attendant is a part-time position that facilitates sales transactions, provides customer service, and assists in the overall operations of the Students’ Union’s retail establishment, SUBmart. We are located in the Students’ Union Building on the U of A’s North Campus.We are looking for people that can work in the morning shifts during weekdays, 7:00AM-2:00PM or 10AM-4PM.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate sales, refunds and other customer transactions in a retail setting.
- Provide excellent customer service, respond to customer queries, and otherwise assist customers as required.
- Assist in maintaining supplies and products by completing inventory counts, replenishment, recovery, receiving, pricing and other related tasks.
- Monitor the premises, and assist in maintaining the overall condition and presentation of the premises.
- Complete cash counts and other financial counts each shift.
- Perform other job-related duties as required by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Alberta Grade 12, or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years or older, as the job involves lottery ticket sales.
- Previous experience in a retail setting is a benefit.
- Ability to operate an electronic point-of-sale system, and to perform accurate financial accounting of shift activities.
- Strong customer service skills, and ability to deal effectively with the staff, students and the general public.
- Ability to work accurately, efficiently and independently.
- Preference given to University of Alberta undergraduate students.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Shift availability with at least three workdays per week is preferred.
- SUBmart is typically open Mon-Fri (7:30AM-8:00PM), Sat (10AM-5PM) for Fall & Winter. Spring and Summer hours are subject to change.
- Shifts are determined based on staff availability, seniority, and business operating requirements.
