Join them and let’s invent tomorrow’s public transport together.SYSTRA’s ambition is to be the benchmark for transport solutions and an opinion leader in mobility.Role and responsibilitiesWorking with and reporting to the Safety Director, the Safety Inspector will hold the following responsibilities:In conjunction with client organization, support Occupational Safety, Health, & Wellbeing strategiesCollaborate and influence client team to implement and maintain OSHW program.Undertake focused integrated functional assurance reviews to ensure best practice is being implemented consistently across all applicable projects.Champion transformational Occupational Safety, Health & Wellbeing initiatives and drive their implementation with the alliance partners.Supporting a dynamic lesson learnt and business improvement process for Occupational Safety, Health & Wellbeing across the program.Produce required reports and input data for reporting.Assure the delivery of Occupational Safety, Health & Wellbeing initiatives internally withing the MCS team and with Metrolinx.Work with the Safety Manager to develop best practice guides/ training / presentations / briefing packages and deliver to appropriate target audience based on their role / responsibilities within the programConduct regular safety inspections/audits of the jobsites, public areas, adjacent thereto, take necessary and timely corrective actions to eliminate unsafe acts or conditions and to fulfill the needs and expectations of the client.Report violations of compliance or regulatory standards to the project interested parties as appropriate or required.Collect reports required for records and evaluations of performance of safety programs.Ensures timely reporting of incidents.Ensures that corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) related to incidents, observations, audits, and inspections are tracked and completed promptly.Ensures that CAPA are followed up and are effective.Ensure that all contractors and subcontractors employees comply with jobsite safety rules and regulations.Verify that all the applicable Metrolinx and regulatory policies and procedures have been implemented on the project sites.Supply info for HSE KPI’s to the Safety Director to promote continuous improvement initiatives monthly.Any additional duties, as deemed necessary to support the deliverables and Key Activities during ASPThis position requires full-time presence at the project. No Remote WorkingTechnical Competencies
- Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of regular office software such as Office 365, Visio, Outlook, etc.
- Experience in developing safety programs and facilitating safety training courses.
- Injury & Incident investigation experience.
- Field safety audit and inspection experience.
- Knowledge of OHS legislations.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
- Very experienced in meeting schedule expectations and delivering work on time.
- Experienced with technical knowledge of safety procedures.
- Experienced with multi-disciplinary rail and transit projects, and/or complex civil infrastructure projects in brownfield/urban environments with adjacent infrastructure as it relates to safety.
- Well-organized with superb time management skills.
- The position requires honesty, dependability, and the ability to be relied upon, responsible, and fulfill obligations.
QualificationsEducation: Diploma or certificate in Health and Safety, or equivalent training and experienceYears of experience: Minimum five (5) years of direct onsite safety experienceTechnical competencies:
- Professional designation/Certification is an asset – NCSO, CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent
- Experience in Railroad and/or transit construction projects is an asset
