This role has been created due to expanding responsibilities within the Controllership team, and to support the ongoing implementation of the Firm’s new accounting and practice management system (“Elite 3E”) that is scheduled for go-live in spring of 2025.The ideal candidate has a bias toward continuous process improvement and system optimization. The contract Senior Accountant will support the Controllership team with a focus on balancing the workload within the team, and collaborate in evaluation and re-design of monthly and annual close processes with the new Elite 3E system in mind.Role is considered fully remote, with occasional opportunity/requirement to work in-office.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly reporting and financial close process, including taking on some management of the review and reconciliation process for the Balance Sheet to expand and improve the overall month-end process.
  • Assist with review, conversion, or re-design of the month-end and year-end tasks of the Controllership team, with focus on streamlining processes with Elite 3E in mind to leverage new capabilities post-implementation.
  • Review monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Ensure all financial deadlines are met in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Update Controllership related process documentation.
  • Support system configuration and testing in line with project milestones, delivering an accurate and optimized system post-implementation.
  • Assist with transition processes and procedures that adhere to internal controls introduced with the new system.
  • Provide assistance and sustainment support post go-live where required.
  • Understand the group structure and intercompany relationships.
  • Coordinate and lead ad hoc projects and accounting initiatives.
  • Other duties as required from time to time in support of the Controllership function.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate business degree with a focus in Accounting/Finance.
  • CPA designation
  • High degree of initiative, responsibility, and business acumen
  • Experience in progressive accounting roles providing a broad base of experience relevant to the job description, ideally with 7-10 years’ experience in operational and corporate reporting, tax, audit and internal controls
  • Curious: you utilize your natural curiosity to effect change – even when you don’t have all the answers you are able to identify creative solutions to problems
  • Collaborator/Teamwork: you have developed skills to help you build trust with various stakeholders and demonstrated effective communication, written and oral, to assist in pushing forward change initiatives
  • Flexibility: ability to manage various deadlines simultaneously, interface with different levels of management and to thrive in a fast-paced environment, dealing with ambiguity and change in a polycentric and global enterprise
  • Systems/Technology: you have a strong understanding how systems and technology can impact effective and efficient operations, with an advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with system implementations and/or being a power user of accounting systems an asset
  • Experience in professional services industry an asset
  • A good team player that has demonstrated the ability to collaborate effectively with various functional areas to help develop and implement win-win solutions with an eye for continuous improvement
  • Enjoys working in a challenging and changing environment and is a creative problem-solver with solid financial knowledge
