Job description: Job DescriptionAn industry leader in the fuel sector, our client is experiencing continuous growth and is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller, the successful candidate will be tasked with preparing financial reports for management and ensuring compliance with all federal and provincial regulations.Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Monthly and quarterly financial statement reporting
• Gross margin, operating, and cash flow reporting
• Investigate variances and discrepancies, reporting as needed
• Support in the audit function conducted by third parties
• Ensure journal entries accuracy and timely posting
• Review account reconciliations
• Support junior staff
• Contribute to the development and improvement of departmental processes
• Ad-hoc reports for management as needed

Experience & Attributes for Success:

• Completed CPA designation or currently in progress as a CPA candidate
• Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business management, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar, versatile accounting role
• Proficient with accounting software and comfortable learning new programs
• Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
• Driven and proactive work ethic with the ability to meet deadlines and management a changing workload
• Self-motivated with the ability to work on your own and within a team
