Job description: Senior AccountantLocation:BRANTFORD, CanadaJob Category:FinanceTo enable the Gates Canada, Brantford Operations meet its business plan objectives through the effective utilization and management of the finance functions within company policies, Union Agreements and GAAP and SOX Regulations. This will be achieved through open communication, providing analysis, Administration, and policy interpretation to all levels of the Brantford organization on accounting matters.Scope of RoleReports to the Controller, Gates Canada Inc., BrantfordCash Management:Manage all of Gates Brantford bank accounts which includes all electronic / wire transactions. Ensure that all transactions are accounted for, and all files are maintained as required to ensure bank accounts are reconciled every month end.Costing:Maintain the costs of all products, ensuring that all new products are set up in a timely manner following the rules of NAFTA. Maintain AS400 products as required.Financial Month End Closing:Prepare and post journals in Oracle within 2 days during close week. Complete reconciliations within 3 days during close week. Upload Oracle Financials into HFM ensuring everything balances and all validations have been cleared. Tax remittances must be completed. Quarterly HFM stat pack to be completed.Budgets / Forecasts:Assist the Controller with budgets and forecasts. Responsible to load all budget and forecast information into GGP.Fixed Asset & Project Accounting Maintenance:All assets are to be maintained and reviewed for additions, changes or retirements. New projects are tracked and maintained through Oracle.Sox Controls:Maintain SOX RCM’s and ensure compliance with SOX controls. Interacts with internal and external auditors.Other Accounting Responsibilities:Maintain the financial archives that are stored offsite and maintain the file database to locate files if necessary.Participate in Financial Audits as required and actively participate in project as assigned through Denver and the controller in Brantford.Other duties as assigned.Education and ExperienceAccounting Experience is required. Actively pursuing a CPA designation is preferred.Solid knowledge of GAAP and SOX regulations.Required SkillsExceptional communications skills (verbal & written) to effectively interact with a variety of personnel Above average attention to detail with an ability to recognize issues, formulate and evaluate solutions using research skills.Working knowledge of ERP Systems (Oracle). Above Average skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.Physical DemandsWhile performing the required duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit; use hands to reach, handle, manipulate and feel objects, tools and controls. The employee will need to listen and talk to other employees. Specific vision capabilities required as the employee is to work in front of a computer on a day to day basis.Working EnvironmentThe noise level is moderate, lighting is mild and the space is comfortable.
