- Manage month-end close process for regional entities:
o Ensure proper interface and reconciliation with various systems (Oracle, IMOS, Concur)
o Record operating expenses, fuel and trade costs
o Maintain fixed assets
o Review Overhead transactions and book accruals
o Prepare monthly consolidated financial results * Interface with Australia which requires some weeknight meetings to speak to individuals in their time zone
- Prepare and/or review statutory financial statements for various entities
- Participate in the annual year-end audit including preparation of supporting schedules, impairment analysis review and various documentation of position papers
- Perform physical counts and maintain inventory ledgers
- Maintain insurance claims accounting records and supporting documentation
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for various general ledger accounts
- Apply accounting policies in agreement with company and accounting standards
- Participate, in conjunction with Corporate Accounting, in the implementation of accounting and internal control policies
- Perform internal testing of ship manager’s operating expenses and crewing costs
- Organize and lead weekly meetings with the operations team to review fuel consumption and inventories
- Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis, as required
- Contribute to improve processes, procedures and tools utilized by the department.
- Accomplish other duties as assigned
Qualification and skills
- Bachelor in accounting, administration or business
- 5 years+
- Experience within a large organization preferred
- Strong accounting skills including knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
- Meticulous with great attention to details
- Ability to work with large volumes of data
- Ethical and accountable
- Respectful of deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent Excel and database skills
- Team player with very good interpersonal skills
- Solid communication skills both written and verbal, including the ability to present analysis to individuals outside of the accounting group
- Experience with Oracle and Power BI is a plus
- Bilingual – speak and write in French and English
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
