Job description: Posted On: Jul 4, 2024Senior AccountantOur client is searching for a Senior Accountant to join their team. This role will be responsible for ensuring transactional day-to-day accounting transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner. A successful candidate will be committed to accuracy and possess strong accurate data entry skills.Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Maintain a general ledger for multiple entities by inputting daily financial transactions
  • Be responsible for full cycle accounting including month end close procedures
  • Be responsible for posting daily deposits and reconciliation to sales closings
  • Resolve financial problems, investigate issues and resolve accounting transactions in accordance with company policies
  • Analyze variances of financial results against budgets
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial regulatory reporting requirements and tax filings including GST and PST
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheet account reconciliations, including, but not limited to bank reconciliations and intercompany
  • Prepare month end financial package with supporting documentation
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly financial information including consolidations
  • Produce year end working paper files and assist with preparation for independent account review
  • Assist in maintaining policy and procedure documentation for accounting transactions
  • Develop and maintain project specific reporting and analysis for internal clients
  • Maintain an accurate trail and support for all financial and accounting transactions
  • Understand and maintain adequate and effective internal controls under the direction of the controller
  • Examine, reconcile and adjust job costing to ensure accurate job costs
  • Other duties within the finance department as assigned

Your strengths include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related academic field of study comparable to Canadian academic standards is preferred
  • 7+ years of reliable and sustained experience and knowledge in all aspects of Corporate Accounting is required
  • Experience in Residential Rentals, Construction, Land Development, and/or Job Costing is desired
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook is required
  • Membership of the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada or Canadian Securities Institute is desired
  • Knowledge of accounting system, budgets and internal controls required
  • Ability to use accounting software systems such as Sage Timberline, D365 Business Central, Yardi or Caseware is preferred
