The Senior accountant will support the finance team in providing accurate and timely information in order to monitor the company’s financial health and integrity. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, they will actively support establishing, monitoring, and implementing the company’s financial accounting, reporting, disclosure, and internal controls. This role requires technical expertise and vision to advise on and, under the guidance of leadership, implement best practices for a successful and growing company.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the month-end process, including full-cycle accounting duties, by preparing and analyzing financial information and account reconciliations, including tax filings, as required.
  • Perform accounting technical research for complex accounting transactions to enhance financial disclosure and compliance with GAAP.
  • Document processes for existing day-to-day accounting policies, month-end close process, and reconciliations and recommend corrective measures where needed
  • Support financial decision-making by collecting, analyzing, investigating, and reporting financial data for various stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing fit-for-purpose accounting policies and procedures for the organization to support the business and the internal control framework.
  • Assist in the quarterly consolidation process of multiple entities and month-end closing procedures.
  • Collaborate with finance or cross-functional teams across departments and regions to gather financial data, resolve discrepancies, and address accounting issues.
  • Support year end audit process by responding to auditors’ inquiries and prepare appropriate working papers and supporting schedules.

Experience:

  • 4+ years of financial accounting and reporting experience; experience with percentage completion is a plus!

Experience developing, documenting, and communicating accounting policies or procedures. * Strong accounting knowledge of ASPE or IFRS, including consolidations, and foreign exchange.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, experienced with PowerBI is an asset.
  • An inquisitive nature with strong attention to detail and an aptitude for critical thinking and problem-solving.

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or other related.
  • Professional Accountant, CPA.
