Job description: Job Description:We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant, FP& A in the construction industry. The selected individual will be responsible for the preparation of budgeting and forecasting processes for over 10+ companies; ensuring information is accurate and timely. Identification of opportunities for improvement of an operational, financial, or internal controls nature that is consistent with the strategic direction and objectives of the organization.Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of Accounts Receivable team, and assist in reconciling remittances and invoicing on a monthly basis, identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Develop, manage, and automate the annual consolidated budget and financial forecasts for 10+ companies
  • Assist with the implementation of the Budgeting and Forecasting tool within SAP B1/Solver

– Develop and architect how the budgeting/forecasting system will work with the various project teams

  • Develop process to obtain monthly updates from project teams, ensure that they are aware of their project financials, and hold project teams accountable for any variations from expected budgeted/forecasted amounts
  • Lead the Compliance Reporting processes, ensuring required information and calculations are accurate and timely
  • Assist in the creation and documentation of internal controls
  • Preparation and/or review of month end working papers for the Board and management meetings
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Train and assist in the development of junior accounting staff
  • Manage and promote process efficiencies within the Budgeting and Forecasting areas
  • Assist with reviewing and analyzing investment opportunities and related benefits as they arise from BD department
  • Assisting with maximizing profitability within existing contracts
  • Other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned and as may be amended from time to time to meet company/organizational objectives
  • Prepare and provide supporting documentation and schedules for financial statement audits and vendor audits

Requirements:Education:

  • CPA designation is considered a significant asset; combined with 3+ years accounting experience in a similar role

Experience:

  • Ability to build financial models and analyze financial information
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and disclosure standards under IFRS and ASPE
  • Proven analytical and reconciliation skills

– Experience working in a multi-company environment and reconciling inter-company accounts

  • Knowledge and experience with implementation and compliance of internal controls
  • Experience with SAP B1 and building new reports in Solver or equivalent reporting tool
  • Self-starter with a highly energetic, results oriented work style combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Solid team player with a high level of honesty and integrity
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of employees, from junior team members to Executive management
  • Able to sustain proficiency in managing competing priorities with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage and analyze high volumes of data

Competencies:

  • Accounting Designation preferred
  • Proficiency in Office Suite of Software, with focus on Excel and Word programming
  • Excellent planning, organizing and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and be a dedicated team player
  • Experience working with ERP systems and in particular SAP B1 considered a significant asset
  • Oil and Gas and Construction Services background is an asset

Expected salary: $95000 – 105000 per year
