Job description: About the Role:As a Senior Accountant specializing in Indirect Tax, you will prepare and complete tax returns and reports related to provincial, property, sales, and other tax liabilities. Your role includes ensuring compliance with all deadlines, staying updated on relevant tax laws, reviewing business proposals for tax implications, and assisting in tax audits. You may also be involved in assessing the tax implications of mergers and acquisitions.What You’ll Do:Perform tax calculations and gather accounting information to ensure compliance with indirect tax regulations.Research transaction tax issues and provide informed guidance based on the latest indirect tax laws and regulations.Prepare monthly reconciliations of tax accounts, including detailed analysis to verify account balances.Prepare information for sales tax audits and assist in meeting all related deadlines.Review proposals for sales tax implications and recommend actions that align with business plans while minimizing tax liability.Maintain the indirect tax calendar and track the filing of returns.What We’re Looking For:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or Economics.Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Canadian Indirect Tax preferred.Ability to recognize and address crucial details with accuracy and efficiency.Strong skills in clear communication and information conveyance.Ability to create and conduct formal presentations.Effective interaction with all levels of management.Strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion.Ability to work constructively under stress and pressure with high workloads and deadlines.Support and promote social, ethical, and organizational standards in all business activities.Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.Ability to build solid, effective working relationships with others.Quick learner of new systems and technology.Intermediate level proficiency with relevant computer system applications.Join our team and leverage your expertise in a dynamic environment that values your contributions and supports your professional growth.
