This position reports to the Director of Finance Atlas Canada and ZII Shared Services. The Senior Accountant – Plant Analytics will conduct detailed analysis in direct support of the production facilities for the Structural (Atlas) Division.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and manage analytical modelling for all facilities to assist in decision making.
  • Set up, manage, and conduct monthly yield analysis, fix analysis, and tons per schedule hour reports for all facilities and advise management on the impact on the business.
  • Review run rates at least annually for all products produced, coordinated with production planning to update all systems.
  • Ensure the most correct and current operation data points are being used in the monthly transfer pricing calculations.
  • Ensure run rates for standard overhead rate setting are up to date for accurate costing.
  • Set up and manage process to evaluate all major capex expenditures projected ROI vs achieved.
  • Monitor inventory reports daily, looking for material set up errors (ie unit of measure) that erroneously impact the net valuation of inventory for the location, investigate anomalies and make required corrections with adequate audit support maintained.
  • Create and maintain yield adder tracking file to monitor specialty additions to incentive payout vs material cost savings for any plant impacted.
  • Assist Planning team with monitoring master and slit coil for aged items, developing plan for use, transfer, or disposal.
  • Set up and manage process to monitor and evaluate common audit risks such as shipping/receiving cutoff issues.
  • Coordinate with Quality team to develop robust processes for returned goods, scrapping of materials, etc. that will meet internal and external audit requirements including ISO/API and result in more accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with all plants to develop a consistent and easily auditable cycle count process for both automated and non-automated warehouse inventory.
  • Coordinate with Storeroom Manager to monitor stockroom cycle count processes are to current policy and all audit trail documents are maintained.
  • Develop and manage processes leveraging the MES plant floor solution to provide the why’s behind the KPI data.
  • Coordinate with logistics to leverage TMS and SAP data to provide additional insight into freight expense.
  • Provide additional insight into the operational plant floor results to the finance team for more detailed reporting of financial results (i.e. the why behind the numbers).
  • Ad hoc analysis and reporting as required to support all levels of operations (including plant manager, general manager and divisional president).
  • Ensure all new processes are documented in a clear concise manner that can be used to train the operations team mates on the new process.
  • Assist with Training of new hires as required.
  • Develop and maintain procedural documentation for all aspects of the role.
  • Meet all required due dates with completeness and accuracy.
  • Back up to other team mates as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business or Accounting/Finance Degree is required.
  • 5+ years analytical experience with preference to a Professionally designated accountant or final year candidate with 1-2 years of experience with analytics in a manufacturing environment.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Must have extensive advanced knowledge of Excel or similar spreadsheet use and able to data mine and manage large amounts of data.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Must have excellent analytical skills and accounting knowledge.
  • Great communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Travel may be required – must be eligible and willing to travel between Canada and US as needed.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
