Our team members are encouraged to Be True to their values and ambitions, alongside our shared commitment to building great relationships, great conversations and great futures.Baker Tilly RSG LLP is currently looking for a full-time, permanent Senior Accounting Technician to join our Edmonton team.The Senior Accounting Technician is responsible for providing intermediate level accounting, tax advisory and consulting services while also promoting the brand and services of Baker Tilly RSG. The incumbent will be front line for responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and providing support and guidance to clients on various tax, and year end compliance matters, as well as preparing intermediate level compilation engagements and corporation and personal income tax returns.Setting:At Baker Tilly RSG LLP, we pride ourselves on our progressive and forward-thinking practices, employing a digital workflow that facilitates working seamlessly across locations. The Senior Accounting Technician will be required to work in an office environment with the option for some remote flexibility.   • Plan and execute intermediate-level compilation, engagements including preparation of financial statements and applicable tax filings and WCB returns
  • Prepare intermediate level personal income tax returns and related schedules
  • Respond to client inquiries and concerns
  • Establish and maintain client relationships
  • Analyze client circumstances and provide useful insight and support for financial decision making or planning, including identifying opportunities for value-added services to clients
  • Review internally prepared bookkeeping files
  • Manage time, budgets, work in progress and billings
  • Improve technical skills by participating in ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Collaborate with team to optimize internal processes
  • Train and mentor Junior Accounting Technicians

A successful candidate will have:

  • Completion of post-secondary certificate or diploma in accounting
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in public accounting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively to resolve client issues
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to perform more than one task concurrently
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft 365, CaseWare, TaxPrep, QBO, Xero and other relevant software
