Your MissionWe are looking for a Senior Associate Software Engineer to join our Progression Team at Demonware that specializes in designing, implementing, and evolving our game progression, rewards, and player engagement services for the Call of Duty franchise and other popular Activision titles. You’ll work closely with the game development studios that produce AAA blockbuster titles including Call of Duty®. Your job will involve planning, designing, implementing and maintaining new online services that can handle millions of concurrently connected users, within the progression domain. You will be relied upon for developing and maintaining software systems that track player progression, responding to game events in real-time, and performing actions configured to respond to those events. You’ll join a team striving to produce the best possible experience for our players and studio partners.What you bring to the tableThe videogame industry and therefore our business is fast-paced and will continue to evolve. As such, the duties and responsibilities of this role may be changed as directed by the Company at any time to promote and support our business and relationships with industry partners. T his role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities :

  • Develop multi-tenants backend online services and features that are reliable and scale to be used by millions of players all around the world
  • Collaborate with other engineers in the team to develop, operate and support features and services with minimal supervision
  • Work as a partner to game studios, designing online and multiplayer player experiences. Work with game studio engineers to solve problems with online and multiplayer features
  • Provide technical mentorship to other team members through software engineering best practices

Player ProfileMinimum requirements:

  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Expertise in Python or C++ coding, or skills in a similar language
  • Experience with databases (e.g. MySQL, Cassandra, and Redis)
  • Experience with distributed system designs
  • Experience delivering within Scrum/Agile development methodologies
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good communication and customer facing skills

Extra points:

  • Experience with container and containerized deployment (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with stream processing technologies (e.g. Kafka)
  • Experience with multi-platform development, including PC, Xbox One, and PS4
  • Understanding of large scale services (up to millions of concurrent users)

Eligibility to participate in these benefits may vary for part time and temporary full-time employees and interns with the Company.The standard base pay range for this role is $62,387.50 – $131,905.00 CAD. These values reflect the expected annualized base pay range of new hires in British Columbia, Canada. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.

Expected salary: $62387.5 – 131905 per year
