The ideal candidate will take direct ownership of construction support and planning during feasibility studies and engineering development projects. Additionally, they will oversee construction management, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) projects. Specifically, the candidate will be tasked in leading the construction of underground mining material handling systems and facilities, collaborating with teams compromising two hundred (200) or more individuals.Basic Job Responsibilities:
– Supervise construction teams and execute construction activates in accordance with project specification, schedules, cost estimates, procedures, quality standards and safety protocols.
– Implement site safety and security procedures, fostering a culture of safety throughout the project. Actively participate in safety audits and ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
– Manage project schedule and cost by optimizing construction resources including manpower, materials, tools, and equipment.
– Collaborate with construction engineers and planners to develop project schedules.
– Maintain short-range planning at the foreman level and review design scope for constructability.
– Monitor manpower levels and productivity to achieve schedule milestones and cost-effectiveness.
– Control change/scope creep and ensure proper documentation of scope changes and approval of change orders.
– Assist in administering labour relations policies and manage contractual commitments of contractors.
– Plan and oversee temporary facilities, maintain quality standards, and manage construction equipment and supplies.
– Provide training and motivation to construction personnel through area managers, superintendents, and foremen.Candidate Requirements:
– Authorization to work in the country of the position (Canada).
– Fifteen (15) years of underground mining facilities construction experience, with the majority in northern climates.
– Twenty-five (25) years of overall construction experience in underground mining facilities and related heavy industries.
– Experience in underground mining facilities management, including medium or large size projects & mega-projects.
– Familiarity with Canadian statutory mining and construction regulations.
– Proficient communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
– Strong computer skills including Excel and Word.Working Conditions:
– Construction Job SitePreferred Qualifications:
– Experience with mining shafts, winders, conveyors, bulkheads, substations, steel structure erections, and mechanical equipment assembly.
