Bayshore Healthcare is also recognized as Canada’s Best Employers in Forbes 2023 list.The Sr. Database Administrator’s primary role is to provide support for day-to-day database operations, High Availability, installs/Upgrades, Data Migrations, troubleshooting database related incidents and performance issues, database monitoring and operational management of Database Infrastructure Technologies deployed at Bayshore.This position will join a team responsible for core infrastructure services for, compute, storage, Database, telecom, network and security operations.Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing end-to-end resolution
- Must be very hands-on in MS SQL Server database backup and recovery.
- Must be very hands-on with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server such as Always On availability groups, Log Shipping, Transactional Replication, WSFC etc.
- Must be very hands-on with MS SQL Server database upgrades, Production to Test database refreshes etc.
- Must be very hands-on in writing SQL statements (Structured Query Language)
- Strong T-SQL database programming and Windows PowerShell scripting skills
- Ability to work with cross-functional team members belonging IT Infrastructure, Information Security network storage etc. in articulating and convincing MS SQL Server requirements
- Ready to participate in the DBA team on-CALL support rotation
- Manage and operate large scale production database systems
- Provide direct operational support across all areas of the production database infrastructure including high availability, database replication
- Installed and configured database servers (MS SQL 2016+) using various high availability technologies such as Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances
- Perform capacity planning, performance turning, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching and optimization of the databases
- Develop automation of the database processes, tasks, and procedures
- Follow operational policies and processes that are compliant with ITIL standards
- Participate in change control procedures
- Provide root cause analysis
- Proactively provide recommendations to prevent issues
Work Location – Bayshore Healthcare, National Service Centre, 2101 Hadwen Rd, Mississauga, ON L5K 2L3.This position is hybrid, with a requirement to work onsite at least two days weekly.QualificationsEducation
- Degree in Computer Science/IT or commensurate experience
- Industry certifications considered an asset
Experience
- Minimum 7-10 years combined work experience in MS SQL Server 2022,2019, 2017, 2016 versions
- Minimum 2-3 years Microsoft Azure and/or AWS Solutions
