A place where we promote fairness, equity, and non-discrimination through policies and practices that provide equal opportunities for all employees.Join us and unearth your potential in a global company that is at the forefront of shaping the future of the mining industry.LocationMusselwhite SitePurposeReporting directly to the Mine Engineering Superintendent, the Senior Engineer – Mine Planning will be critical in providing leadership, supervision, training, and technical support to the Mine Planning teams. This team produces detailed designs of stoping areas, development headings, and mine services as well as short to mid-term mine plan schedules and cost models.Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with all aspects of the Fatality Risk Management and perform inspections, job and task observations to ensure compliance to Fatality Risk Management safety standards.
  • Be proactive with respect to safety. Report and correct hazards as they are identified.
  • Accountable for own health and safety performance as well as wellbeing of those in the workplace.
  • Follow operating procedures, design checklists, Occupational Health and Safety Act; company policies and comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participate in team safe meetings/discussions providing input based on observations and experience so that designs include mitigation measures/controls for all foreseeable hazards.
  • Review all design and execution work and packages produced by the mine planning team, including but not limited to: stope designs, blast letters, backfill prints, development designs, development driving layouts, service hole designs, drill packages.
  • Develop and maintain mine planning standards, guidelines, and checklists to support
  • Understand, track, and communicate risks to the mine development and production plans, quarterly forecasts, and annual budgets.
  • Participate and drive successful implementation of projects using Newmont’s Full Potential operational excellence program
  • Other supporting tasks as outlined by the Mine Engineering Superintendent

Requirements

  • Minimum B.Sc. degree in Mining Engineering.
  • 7 – 10 years of experience in underground mine engineering roles, with at least 3 years in mine planning and scheduling
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills while working with a diverse team.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to positively interact with co-workers and team members.
  • Exceptional proficiency with mine planning computer software (Deswik.IS and Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Willingness and capability to work in and adapt to a fast-paced, safe production oriented setting.

Working ConditionsThe work schedule for this position is 14 on, 14 days off, working 12-hour days.We understand no candidate will meet every single desired qualification.
