The Senior Financial Accountant will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial insights to support the organization’s growth and profitability. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:Maintain General Ledgers and Accounts

  • Prepare entries, record transactions and maintain ledgers in a variety of formats and systems.
  • Generate and maintain timely monthly close tasks in support of internal and external reporting.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Support the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements for several Resort entities to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide insightful financial reports and KPIs to Resorts’ General Managers.

Account Reconciliations:

  • Perform account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger with accurate and complete data.
  • Review various sales tax, GST, WCB and similar statutory reporting and payments.

Compliance and Auditing:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Assist with external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with finance team to assist with budgets and forecasts and support long-term financial planning.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify areas for process improvements and streamlining financial processes.
  • Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Financial Controls:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining strong internal controls to safeguard company assets, mitigate financial risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial policies and procedures.

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, development and procurement to gather financial data and reporting.

Background, Education and Experience Sought:

  • CPA designation preferred with a minimum of 3 years post-designation experience.
  • Proficiency with Sage Intacct is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in learning and utilizing new financial software and tools.
  • Strong to advanced Excel skills required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong ethics and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel to Resorts in Canmore and Invermere is required (~50% travel is required from May to September)
