After a significant global expansion and a strategic push to standardize systems and platforms worldwide, PL Re is embarking on a comprehensive back-office transformation program. Simultaneously, the finance unit is implementing multiple initiatives to enhance capabilities in response to evolving business demands and complex transactions.Within the Financial Reporting workstream, there is a pivotal need for support as the project progresses through its various stages. This role will collaborate directly with the core team leading the charge in system and process changes, contributing to the achievement of key objectives for both the overall project and the specific financial reporting workstream.Key outcomes involve standardizing reporting processes globally to enhance transparency and talent mobility, automating manual procedures, and fostering improved cross-functional collaboration and integration.The role holder will cultivate close relationships with subject matter experts and teams across different regions and workstreams, maintaining consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.The financial reporting workstream benefits from support by cross-functional teams established as part of the extensive global transformation project. The teams provide essential change management support and guidance, ensuring a systematic, controlled, and efficient approach to change within the company.This role represents a compelling opportunity to join the finance team during a dynamic period of transformation. As a senior finance accountant, you will play a critical role in documenting, testing, and delivering on the finance projectobjectives.Main DutiesFinancial Analysis

  • Creation of various reports for management and other stakeholders as it relates to finance projects (e.g. journal entry preparation, opening balance sheet set up)
  • Support the Transformation team in analyzing financial data and transactions to understand what process changes or system functionality can be utilized to improve overall finance processes
  • Liaise with Corporate Accounting (California) and Division Centre (London), other PL Re offices globally, external/internal auditors as required
  • Analyze large financial data sets for multiple legal entities, multi accounting bases and across fiscal years
  • Prepare and recreate new reports and working files under dual accounting systems to support system testing or validate system requirements
  • Assist other areas of the finance with accounting and ad hoc projects as and when required as necessary.
  • Support other financial projects and ad hoc tasks as required

Projects/System testing

  • Manage the design, development and implementation of a Finance Transformation & Corporate Restructure project and the associated accounting and reporting implications of this project
  • Own and execute steps on project plan, communicate, and document conclusions
  • Prepare and Execute test scripts and document conclusions
  • Documentation of interfaces, reports, workflows, configuration, presentations, and forms.
  • Identify and document business requirements and test cases to support system testing.
  • Plan, execute and document test scripts as necessary to test steps of the plan prior to go live.
  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date system documentation of processes & functionality as well as end user manuals
  • Develop materials to explain the project status, conclusions and decisions
  • Develop training materials, as needed, for changes to reporting
  • Train users, as needed, on new and existing processes

Ad hoc activities

  • Support the Finance Team by managing and participating in various tasks and ad-hoc projects as and when required

Qualifications & Experience

  • Achieved Professional accounting designation (CPA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 4 years accounting experience with core exposure to accounting, financial reporting and analysis, project management and change management
  • Experience with Oracle finance modules is an asset
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and technical accounting skills
  • Demonstrated strength in the use of SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP AFO, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, and advanced MS Excel capability
  • Excellent understanding of different bases of accounting (IFRS, USGAAP, US Tax)
  • Experience & good understanding of reinsurance/insurance accounting and knowledge of actuarial concepts is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal/negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with different functional areas and work effectively within a team environment
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline driven environment
  • Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management skills and ability to prioritise workload and at times flexibility to accommodate global working hours (primarily in the UK or California)
  • Ability to deal with non-standard requests/work
  • Proactive, adaptable individual with strong leadership, and process evaluation abilities, with a holistic view to technology integration and automation
  • Excellent business writing and documentation skills
