Job description: Job Title Senior Financial Analyst (18-month contract)Job DescriptionPurpose of Role:The Senior Treasury Accountant is responsible for key areas within treasury, financial reporting, and accounts payable, this includes, but is not limited to, ownership of operational liquidity, expense disbursements, accounting (incl. US GAAP, IFRS, US STAT), analysis, management information, system administration and compliance management. This role requires interaction with internal and external stakeholders.Main DutiesOperational Liquidity & Treasury Accounting

  • Prepare and analyze short, and long-term cash forecast
  • Assist with PLRe North America’s liquidity needs, by transferring cash / assets as required
  • Ownership of bank reconciliations for all PLRe bank accounts
  • Maintaining and enforcing the bank mandate procedures
  • Performing control checks to ensure all Treasury cash suspense accounts are cleared

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Preparing, posting and reviewing of all Treasury & expense related journal entries, including accruals and corporate chargebacks
  • Maintaining full accounting ledger of the service company’s financial statements
  • Analysis of IS, BS and financial results against plan and prior periods
  • Preparing and filing monthly HST returns
  • Documentation of internal controls procedures
  • Documentation and continual improvement of Processes
  • Various compliance responsibilities, including maintaining a relationship with the CRA for tax compliance

Expense Processing and Disbursements

  • Ownership of full Accounts Payable cycle, including processing, reviewing and timely disbursement of invoices.
  • Processing of intercompany transactions
  • Working closely with various teams to ensure adequate funding within accounts.
  • Prepare and issue monthly chargeback invoices to related inter-companies
  • Assist with relationship management with banks & custodians
  • Vendor Maintenance on reporting systems
  • Maintenance of fixed and prepaid asset registers

Ad Hoc Activities

  • Support Manager, Treasury, Investments & Payroll by managing and participating in ad hoc projects as and when required

Qualifications & Experience

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA/CA/CGA)
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience of Treasury and Expense disbursements
  • Demonstrated strength in the use of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to produce high quality work within agreed deadlines
  • Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload
  • Ability to manage expectations and communicate well with colleagues at all levels in the business and work effectively within a team environment
  • Ability to deal with non-standard requests/work
  • Self-starter with a desire to develop their technical knowledge and skills
  • PeopleSoft and online banking experience would be an asset
  • Excellent documentation skills proven in the workplace
