Job description: Position Scope:Reporting directly to the Manager Corporate Finance, the “Senior Financial Analyst – Corporate Finance is responsible for leading corporate accounting processes and overseeing systems that supports the preparation, review and reporting of both internal and external Financial Statements including all supporting schedules, reconciliations and analysis as required.The SFA will lead the Financial Statements, in addition to preparing financial and SEC reports required by various regulatory bodies, and interpreting accounting pronouncements and bulletins ensuring compliance with US GAAP and ensuring compliance with the company’s internal controls over financial reporting and accounting.The SFA will also work closely with the auditors in the completion of the quarterly and annual reporting processes.Please note: This position is a temporary 16 month contract with an end date of February 27, 2026. Responsibilities:Lead quarterly and annual financial statements and management discussion and analysis
- Coordinate the completion of quarterly and annual financial statements and management discussion and analysis (including notes and supporting tables).
- Review financial information within presentations and press releases.
- Perform accounting research, including assessment of accounting issues and new accounting standards to ensure compliance with US GAAP and preparation of position papers as required.
- Responsible for the maintenance of XBRL.
- Perform monthly and quarterly analysis, preparation and maintenance of equity accounting, including stock based compensation entries and earnings per share.
- Support the Process Owner and sub-Process Owners in the review, monitoring and testing of Financial Reporting internal controls.
- Responsible for complying with the company’s internal controls over financial reporting.
- Assist with identifying process improvements, implementing changes and ensuring best practices
Lead Corporate Accounting processes and oversee systems
- Identify emerging issues and opportunities and communicate with other managers in a timely and effective manner.
- Participate in the development of operating, cash flow, and capital budgets and forecasts.
- Own the GL systems and set ups.
- Manage the Corporate Balance Sheet, through review, analysis, and reconciliation of accounts.
- Implement and manage process to ensure that all accounts are reconciled on a timely basis and appropriate support is maintained for all transactional activity
- Responsible for monthly financial reporting including the preparation of financial reports and analysis on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis, ensuring they are in accordance with US GAAP.
- Ensure that Sox controls are adhered to throughout finance by way of audit testing and review of procedures.
- Identify and monitor standards, performance and processes to communicate results, advice and options
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly binder.
- Liaison for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Equipment and Operations.
- Ensure the current JDE Integrity processes are maintained and work with IT to ensure subledgers reconcile to general ledger (AR, AP, Inv, etc) and all batches are successfully posted.
- Manage foreign exchange module.
- Manage AP and RNV subledgers – ensure that all older items are getting cleared & that all credits are reviewed and recovered.
- Manage the Capital Asset subledger;
- Ensure that capitalization policies are adhered to;
- Ensure that WIP is capitalized on a timely basis
- Ensure that depreciation is calculated accurately and on a timely basis
- Review, approve, and post journal entries
- Supervise Corporate Accounting Staff of 3
- Prepare and co-ordinate month end closing schedule
- Prepare and co-ordinate quarterly and annual audit schedule
- Ensure the PBC listing and other communications are completed accurately and on a timely basis.
- Set up, review and analyze deferred financing fees. Create amortization schedules
- Maintain closure of subledgers and GL on a monthly basis
- Act as liaison with outside organizations and officials including banks, government, auditors, and lawyers to prepare required working paper files (i.e. audit) and discuss the financial affairs related to the organization and recommend various courses of action.
- Provide key knowledge and support for the GL and reporting systems.
Lead year end audits and quarter end reviews and prepare documentation and communication with the auditors
- Manage the timely and accurate completion of the quarterly and annual “Prepared by Client” items pertaining to compliance and reporting to support the external audit and review activities.
- Work with external auditors to ensure the audit runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Provide accounting analysis for the preparation of responses to auditor queries.
- Respond to internal and external audit queries (including SOX)
Other Financial or Special Projects
- Support other special projects and perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as required.
- Analyzes operating results, develops reports and provides recommendations to management
- Develop financial models
- Complete special projects and ad hoc analysis as required
Qualifications:
- Five years’ experience relating to financial reporting and analysis, three years post-designation
- Industrial construction and/or mining experience preferred.
- Post secondary degree/certificate or equivalent experience relating to finance.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Proven ability to perform under tight timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Demonstrated ability to influence peers and superiors
- Understanding and usability of all functions of the JD Edwards system preferred
- Intermediate user of Microsoft Excel and Access preferred
- Solid accounting knowledge.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Designated in accounting program (CA, CGA, CMA)
