This role is instrumental in building, planning, and contributing to the growth of our US/Canada cross border practice, involving tax compliance (personal and corporate), foreign investment and other consulting initiatives.It is also an opportunity to join our high-performing practice where you will collaborate with colleagues across service lines (Assurance, Advisory, and Tax) and use your expertise in delivering a personalized approach to client’s businesses. Our approach is tailored to providing practical advice that is unique to their business, while helping organizations navigate the complexities of their Cross Border Tax requirements, combined with personal tax planning, and advisory services.Your role encompasses client service experience, business development, as well as team leadership and coaching.A career as a Senior Manager with Doane Grant Thornton will provide you an opportunity to:
- Champion the growth, management, and development of our Cross Border US Personal Tax practice that complements, and is supported by, the firm’s overall strategy for growth.
- Actively participate in business development efforts, including working collaboratively with senior leadership, partners, and marketing professionals to target and build relationships with client prospects
- Managing and coordinating global tax compliance services for Canadian and multinational clients
- Working closely with Doane Grant Thornton International member firms to deliver global tax solutions
- Supervising and reviewing work of junior team member
- Coaching junior Cross Border Personal Tax team members
- Develop and present internal tax training courses
- Proactively working with the team to develop tax advice and solutions to clients and prospective clients to expand our business
- Being part of a leadership team who meets with and presents to current and prospective clients on Canadian and global tax matters
- Act as a leader in the management of our growing tax practice, identifying and developing new opportunities for additional tax services

- Completion of Bachelor and/or master’s degree in a related field: Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Law, and/or Taxation (US).
- US Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or an Enrolled Agent (EA)
Experience and Attributes:
- Significant tax planning and compliance experience including an in-depth understanding of Canadian and US Taxation matters
- You’ve developed and presented new ideas, approaches, and tax solutions with clients and co-workers through collaborative effort and discussion to provide exceptional client service
- You have a keen interest in contributing to business development to support the growth of the tax practice
- You seek opportunities to coach and mentor colleagues in their ongoing professional development
