Job description: Job Description:The Opportunity:This is an exciting opportunity to join the WSP Buildings Mechanical & Electrical team in our Regina or Saskatoon offices as a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on Healthcare projects. You will collaborate on multi-disciplinary teams in the application of plumbing, drainage, HVAC, and fire protection design knowledge for a wide range of projects.   • Hybrid work from home and office, with some field work during initial site investigation and follow-up with contractor installation.
  • Work independently and lead projects from inception to completion and applying technical and professional engineering and consulting expertise.
  • Provide technical support and mentor junior staff within the mechanical team
  • Design, model and coordinate the various mechanical systems including HVAC ventilation and hydronics, controls, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection.
  • Technical calculations and software use for heating/cooling, ventilation, domestic water, sanitary & storm drainage loads.
  • Complete engineering studies and assessments with accompanying reports
  • Use Revit or AutoCAD software to create drawings
  • Prepare and compile specifications relevant to each project
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients and other consultants
  • Meet deadlines, coordinate efforts with other disciplines or consultants
  • Review shop drawings and reply to requests for information submitted by contractors during construction phase
  • Prepare change notices, change orders and payment certificates as part of contract administration during construction
  • Conduct site surveys during investigative/design phases and complete routine site reviews during construction.

What you’ll bring to WSP …

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role
  • Recent experience on healthcare building projects
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGS
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to fluctuating workloads and expedited timelines
  • Proven working knowledge with Revit or AutoCAD software is an asset,
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel;
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards including, but not limited to, the National Building Code, ASHRAE, NFPA, CSA Z317
