Job description: Randstad is excited to partner with one of our clients in their search for a talented Senior Project Engineer, who will be based in Vancouver, supporting capex projects across Canada. This position requires someone who is a licensed Professional Civil/Structural Engineer with experience in Alberta or BC projects.Advantages

– Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project.
– Contribute to capital budget planning by reviewing and extracting budgeting information from building and roof condition assessment reports prepared by consultants.
– Coordinate and participate in meetings with internal teams/stakeholders to ensure that all intersecting projects progress seamlessly.
– Provide Sr. Project Manager duties for all assigned structural and envelope projects and review specifications and reports prepared by Project Managers and Project Coordinators.
– Provide oversight, supervision, motivate, train, develop and mentor Project Managers and Coordinators as assigned.
– Create project budgets while managing and tracking progress as well as reporting unforeseen expenses as they arise.
– Identify and resolve project issues with the project team and ensure larger, more complex issues are escalated to key project stakeholders.
– Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues.
– Work closely with Senior Director, Procurement to assist in the preparation and creation of scopes for repair/construction work & tender documents.
– Carry out Condition Audits, property inspections, and provide analysis and assist in the preparation of capital expenditure budgets.
– Project manage various construction, intensification and retrofit projects within the portfolio, including budget management, reporting, and quality control of general contractor and consultants.
– Assist with new acquisitions; 5-year capital plan.
– Support staff in tracking all EUBR requests and assist by reviewing their site review findings and specifications as required.
– Provide site inspections including quantitative analysis to various internal operational groups as they relate to the modernizing, upgrading, and maintaining the properties within the portfolio
– Maintain and constantly improve cost reduction initiatives relating to maintenance and repair works throughout the portfolio.
– Collaborate with the Procurement department in vendor selection, tender evaluation, and award recommendation.
– Assist in the preparation of bid analysis and recommendation letters and review and approve progress invoices.
– Lead discussions and work effectively with senior leaders.
– Support software enhancements to track projects and time management.
– Provide guidance and share PM best practices with Technical Services Managers and other internal stakeholders.Qualifications
– Post-secondary education in Structural Engineering, Building Science, Architecture or Construction Management, Professional Designation an asset.
– Licensed Professional Civil/Structural Engineer
– Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience with carrying out investigative building reviews, project management and quality control of restoration and construction projects.
– Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal operational and management teams and external associates and vendors.
– Required to travel to support and lead capex projects across Canada.Required Skills:
– Knowledge and application of safety and environment principles and procedures.
– Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards.
– In-depth understanding of building restoration, procedures and materials and project management principles.
– Proven experience as a building science subject matter expert.
– Demonstrates the ability to manage time effectively, prioritize and work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.
– Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
– Demonstrated experience implementing a strong safety culture.
– Identify and manage risk and opportunities on construction projects.
– Ability to work at heights utilizing suspended access equipment such as swing stages and zoom-booms.
– Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
– Provide leadership, direction, and motivation to the project team.
– Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

Expected salary: $110000 – 135000 per year
