They spun out of the UC Berkeley AI Research Lab and develops artificial intelligence to support care for those with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other cognitive impairments.Alzheimer’s disease is the single most expensive disease in the US, costing an estimated $600b per year in direct and indirect costs. It affects 1 in 3 people over 85 and 1 in 9 people over 65. Their first product is focused on reducing the frequency and impact of falls, the leading cause of hospitalization for those living with Dementia. We have peer-reviewed results showing up to 80% fewer falls with an average of 40% fewer falls and 80% fewer ER visits from falls.They have raised capital from top VC firms, including Founders Fund, Eclipse, Foundation Capital, and Data Collective, and the largest providers in the space are actively using, expanding, and evangelizing the service. They have also been awarded grants from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation, given the national importance of the issue – as the population continues to age, the global costs of Alzheimer’s and dementia are expected to double over the next 10 years. With fewer and fewer young people available to provide the care needed, we must find a way for technology to bridge the gap.As a Senior Software Engineer:
As a Senior Software Engineer you will develop features and automation to keep the SafelyYou services secure and functional in 100s of communities we operate in. Operating at the intersection of Senior Software Engineer and Senior Sysadmin, your work will be focused on preventing service disruptions by developing scalable software engineering and automation solutions that simplify the operating environment make our service reliable, and accelerate feature development.You will partner closely with our product management team and peers to define, design, and implement mission-critical solutions focused on system reliability. You will mentor junior team members and lead your projects through the full development lifecycle.You will:
- Implement the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the observability and alarming of our on-premises services delivering a holistic view of our on-premises service health both in terms of availability and performance
- Drive improvements to the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of core products with scale and reproducibility in mind: “cattle only, and no pets”.
- Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solution
- Collaborate with teams building hardware, edge processing, and fleet management.
- Provide technical guidance to the team through mentoring, training, and experimentation
- Make design decisions and provide recommendations throughout our entire IOT platform and within the team
- Lead by example by making quality a core aspect of the delivery
- Promote the adoption of agile best practices while being an ambassador of our company values
- Communicate passionately about the team, mission and technology
Must Have Skills:
- Systems-oriented Go developer with extensive knowledge of Linux.
- BSc in computer science, data science, or other related field
- 8+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent in a SaaS company, preferably in a startup environment
- Proven track record of designing and developing backend and server solutions
- Proven track record of automatically managing and instrumenting complex systems in production.
- Extensive experience with Linux
- Extensive experience with health and welfare monitoring, preferably using Prometheus and Grafana
- Experience with test-driven API and systems development in Go
- Experience with systems automation tools, preferably Ansible
