Job description: Senior Staff Accountant – Permanent – 17819About the OpportunityWe have partnered with our valued public accounting client in Downtown Calgary on a retained basis, to help them find a Senior Staff Accountant to join their team.This group has a strong business, healthy reputation, bright Partner team and Managers for mentorship, growth and succession planning.Duties include but are not limited to:
- Confidence in preparation of financial statements and tax returns in accordance with Firm standards for clients in a variety of businesses and non-profit enterprises
- Familiarity with auditing financial statements of business clients as a team member or audit senior
- Effective communication with our clients, government agencies and with our partners and staff
- Possesses strong written and interpersonal communication skills dealing with a variety of clients and team members
- Prior experience preparing personal tax returns
- Familiar with software including CaseWare, TaxPrep, CCH iFirm, and Microsoft Office
- Enjoys providing advice and training to junior staff members
- Ability to function efficiently under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Possesses a strong desire to learn and grow and can self-start
- Attendance in the office is expected but working from home or remotely on occasion is permitted if required
About YouThe successful candidate will have the following:
- Newly designated CPA or CFE graduate
- 3 – 5+ years public accounting experience, preferrable with a small to mid-sized firm
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Strong work ethic, excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Proficiency with Simply Accounting and QuickBooks
- Proficiency with CaseWare and TaxPrep programs
- Candidate possessing an in-depth understanding of taxation concept is considered an asset
About the Job
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
- Ideally targeting around $80,000 – $90,000 base salary
