Job description: Senior Tax AnalystOur Calgary client is searching for an experience Senior Tax Analyst to join their team. A successful candidate will be responsible for managing various aspects of the company’s tax processes, including compliance, reporting, planning and analysis. This role requires advanced knowledge of tax laws, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills to minimize tax risks and support strategic financial decisions. This role will work closely with the Accounting and Finance team and will directly report to the Tax Manager.Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Support the preparation of US Tax Filing, Federal and State
  • Prepare Canadian corporate and partnership returns
  • Calculate quarterly payment of installments and filing extension requests in Canada and the US
  • Track all notices of assessment and all other taxation authority correspondence and proactively resolve issues
  • Prepare tax provision, including coordination of the divisional and corporate reporting responsibilities surrounding tax provision reporting processes, review of materials provided and ongoing communication, training, etc.
  • Research and implement new standards with respect to taxation issues
  • Stay updated on legislative and regulatory tax changes that could affect the organization
  • Support external audits of both Canadian and US revenue agencies
  • Perform other tasks as required
  • Ad hoc requests from tax authorities and management

Your strengths include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance
  • CPA Designation or working towards a CPA Designation is required
  • CPA – In-depth tax course, Level I, II is an asset
  • 4+ years of experience in a corporate tax role, with direct experience in tax return preparation and income tax provisions
  • Ability to focus on continuous improvement, through the process of improvement and training
  • High degree of self-motivation and initiative with a proactive and results-oriented approach
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail
  • Strong Excel skills are required
  • Experience with Alteryx and Longview is an asset
