Job description: Role: Set Top Box Engineer-IPTVLocation: Remote/CanadaDuration: 6-12 MonthsJob Description:What you’ll do:Evaluate new and existing end customer video delivery platforms, to ensure they meet client exacting standards of quality and performanceCollaborate with external vendor partners, bringing together industry expertise to create highly performant video delivery solutions using the latest technologiesTroubleshoot software and hardware issues impacting set-top box performance and functionality, including OS and driver issues, encryption and rights management, video streaming and long term stabilityDesign, develop and execute test plans to validate the functionality, stability and performance of customer facing and supporting systems on current and next generation set-top box hardwareCollaborate with internal stakeholder teams and subject matter experts to build roadmaps, evaluate qualification and deployment plans, and to build consensus and drive solutions to technically challenging problemsWhat you bring:Four or more years of experience deploying and supporting IPTV set-top boxes based on Android TV, Linux or other embedded systemsSolid knowledge of audio/video technology and standards used in consumer electronics, such as HDMI, HDCP, Infrared, BLE, codecs and transports including HLS, DASH, H.264, etc.Significant experience troubleshooting TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and network connectivity-related problemsTwo or more years of experience with automation using scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, shell scripting or PowershellExperience using software lifecycle tools such as Jira, TFS and ConfluenceExcellent in communicating complex problems to stakeholdersHands-on experience using analytics and instrumentation to identify, interpret, troubleshoot and resolve multi-layered functionality and performance issuesPost-secondary degree in Engineering or Computing Science, or equivalent experience in delivering best-in-class video entertainment experiencesGreat-to-havesExperience with DRM systems including Widevine, PlayReady and VerimatrixExperience with GCP and/or AWS cloud technologies and toolsExperience developing software using modern web technologies like HTML5, JavaScript (ES6), CSS3, Websockets and RESTWorking knowledge of Android software development using Java or KotlinExperience with in home CPE networking/access layer 2 and 3 routing technologies (MoCA, Ethernet, WiFi)Familiarity with device management solutions such as TR-069 and TR-369
