Job description: Overview of Position:
JWC is seeking a highly skilled construction laborer to join our dynamic team. As a pivotal member of our workforce, you will contribute to the successful completion of various construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, exceptional craftsmanship, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. Will execute tasks assigned by the Site Supervisor in a timely and efficient manner This may include framing, drywall, flooring installations, ceramic, paint, installs or other types of manual labour. This position will also support the team through the support and training of Construction Labourers (especially newcomers).Specific Responsibilities:

• Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and/or sketches and understand project specifications
• Layout and rough carpentry work

• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, erect walls, drywall, and roof systems
• Build outdoor structures such as decks and fences
• Fine finishes work

• Fit and install flooring, trim, doors, stairs, cabinetry, moulding, and hardware with precision
• Complete takeoffs / materials calculation accurately
• Proactive in requisitioning materials and supplies
• Level earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shovel
• Provide quality workmanship consistent with industry standards and stakeholder expectations
• Able to complete small projects, independently
• Proficiency with all tools and equipment required in residential/commercial building
• Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers safely, as directed
• Support Construction Labour as they grow in their responsibilities

Skills and Competences:

• Minimum of 1+ years of experience in the construction techniques, renovations industry with a broad knowledge of the building process
• License in Construction Skills, containing a complete apprenticeship program in various areas, such as general carpentry, drywall, roofing, flooring etc.
• Must have to know how to set up program and operate one or more computer numerically controlled (CNC) or manual woodworking machines such as saws, moulders, lathes, etc.
• Able to communicate in English efficiently (Celpip/Ielts level 7+/ CLB7)
• Working at Heights valid certificate
• First Aid valid Certificate
• Must have a valid “G” License
• Strong attention to detail and precision in executing tasks
• Ability to work productively and in a timely manner
• Capable of recognizing and addressing health and safety inconsistencies, as needed
• Brings a positive attitude and is community minded
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must have own hand tools and work boots

Qualifications:

• Mandatory diploma or degree engineering, construction, or a relevant field
• Minimum of 1+ years of experience in construction environment

Work Conditions:

• Work outdoors in various conditions
• Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles
• Work in loud, dusty, and possibly moldy environments
• Availability to travel to different worksites independently, within Southern Ontario
