Job description: Job Description:Our client in Edmonton is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting principles and intermediate proficiency in Excel. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insightful analysis to support strategic decision-making.Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of the accounting cycle, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide recommendations to optimize financial performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
• Assist with audits and tax filings as needed.
• Mentor and support junior accounting staff.
• Ad-hoc duties as requested.

Requirements:Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in accounting roles, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, etc.).
• Experience with Sage 300 required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity.
• Available to start immediately.
