Job description: Job Description:We’re searching for a dynamic and detail-driven Senior Accountant to be at the heart of our financial operations in Edmonton. By ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, you’ll not only help meet compliance standards but also uncover opportunities that fuel business growth.What You’ll Be Doing:

• Champion Financial Excellence: Oversee compliance with ASPE standards, ensuring every financial transaction and report is accurate, thorough, and timely.
• Own Month-End: Reconcile accounts (including intercompany transactions), post journal entries, and deliver fully analyzed financial statements for a smooth close.
• Be the Analyzer-In-Chief: Conduct robust variance analysis of P& L results versus budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, distilling your findings into meaningful explanations for senior management.
• Financial Storyteller: Prepare insightful monthly and quarterly financial and management reports that are easy to digest and action-packed.
• Audit & Budget Ally: Play a key role in interim and year-end audits, supporting external auditors with detailed analytics. Also, assist in preparation and analysis of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Collaborator Extraordinaire: Dive into operations to understand the “why” behind the numbers, providing guidance on accounting issues that impact the broader team.
• Asset Manager: Ensure fixed asset continuity schedules are accurate and up-to-date.
• Trend Spotter: Identify financial trends, interpret findings, and connect them to operational outcomes for actionable insights.
• Cost Analyzer: Collaborate on cost accounting processes, analyzing production costs and preparing manufacturing variance reports.
• Process Innovator: Continually question “what we do” and “how we do it,” identifying improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

• CPA designation with a strong understanding of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial, operational, or cost reporting, preferably within the manufacturing or energy industries.

• Proficiency in using SAP is an asset

• Experience working with multi-currency transactions, international business operations, and intercompany transactions

• Adept at translating complex financial concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-finance teams.

Expected salary: $85000 – 95000 per year
