Job description: Job Description:About the Role:Grade Level (for internal use): 10The Role: Sr. Data EngineerSummaryThe Ratings Division is looking to hire a Sr. Data Engineer to lead hands on development and provide design pattern insight. S&P Global structured finance value stream technology team in the Ratings Divisions consists of geographically diversified data engineers responsible to develop scalable solutions by working directly with product development team. Our team culture is oriented towards equality in the realm of software engineering irrespective of hierarchy promoting innovation. One should feel empowered to iterate over ideas and experimentation without being afraid of failure.Responsibilities:
- Participate in the design, development and implementation of end-to-end BI solutions with Power BI and Databricks
- Interact with business users and data owners to understand, analyse and design BI solutions based on their requirements
- Provide end-user support by interacting with end-users and advocating the usage of BI for decision making
- Develop stored procedures, views and work on optimizing SQL queries and ETL jobs
- Troubleshoot BI issues related to ETL jobs, data models and BI reports
What We’re Looking For:
- 6+ years of experience in Big Data and Data Engineering
- Strong knowledge of advanced SQL and data warehousing concepts
- Have strong programming skills in SQL, Python/PySpark etc
- Experience in the design and development of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes
- Experience in one of the public cloud providers – GCP, Azure, AWS
- Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and MongoDB
- Comfortable using Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tools, Git
- At least 3+ years of experience working on Data and Advanced Analytics projects
- At least 2+ years of experience working with Power BI (or) any other enterprise BI reporting platform (Ex. Tableau)
- At least 2+ years of experience working with Power BI SDK.
- At least 2+ years of experience working with Databricks platform and creating Visualization Dashboards and reports.
- A bachelor’s degree (or) higher in business, computer science, (or) other technical fields
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, Java (or) Python.
- Strong data analysis, data modelling and SQL skills along with query optimization experience
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in large teams and interact with both technical and business teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of Enterprise Data Architectures including Data Warehousing, Dimensional Models,
- Good understanding of Software Engineering principles and best practices
- Experience working in an environment/team that uses Agile/Scrum methodology
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to haves)
- Any exposure to AI/ML initiatives is an advantage
- Any exposure to Cloud(AWS, GCP or Azure) based Data services is an advantage
Compensation/Benefits Information:S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is CAD 74,160 to CAD 125,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
