Job description: Job Description:We are offering an opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the hospitality industry, located in Toronto, Ontario. As part of our team, you will be primarily responsible for handling financial transactions, maintaining accounting models, and undertaking continuous process improvements.Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring accurate and efficient processing of financial transactions on administrative systems
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies in transactions and escalating them when necessary
  • Responding to routine accounting or administrative inquiries from stakeholders in a thoughtful manner
  • Preparing journal entries, including cash/banking, fees, billing, payment, accruals, and adjustments, and providing necessary documentation
  • Reconciling general ledger and balance sheet accounts periodically using accounting software like QuickBooks, Oracle, and SAP
  • Supporting internal and external audit/tax requests for documentation and back-up
  • Analyzing accounting data to identify trends and issues
  • Developing and producing reports to support key business insights and decisions
  • Reviewing and documenting existing accounting processes and procedures and recommending changes to improve overall efficiency
  • Developing and maintaining control procedures and systems
  • Participating in team and department projects as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar
  • Proficiency in Account Reconciliation
  • Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Experience in Billing and Invoice Processing
  • Proficiency in Data Entry
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with software such as Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP
  • Must have a strong understanding of the hospitality industry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred

Expected salary: $55000 – 60000 per year
