Job description: Job Description:The Opportunity:WSP’s ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) Sector is currently seeking a Structural Engineer to support the growth of our Industrial and Resources group in our Sudbury, Ontario office. The successful candidate will work on both new construction and rehabilitation in mining and industrial sectors. The Resources Engineering group also provides service to institutional and government clients. You will apply your structural design knowledge on project work from conceptual design through completion. You will also be responsible for technical quality, cost effectiveness, building and maintaining client relationships, and providing guidance to a team of designers as an integral part of this role.Whether in the power, mining, oil and gas or industrial sectors, WSP provides our clients with the innovative and Future Ready solutions to responsibly extract raw materials efficiently and safely transform them into valuable products, including transport to end-user markets. - Complete structural designs and calculations for buildings and industrial structures (Mining and Industrial Plants).
- Make technical decisions and take responsibility on technical matters.
- Design management with input from other senior engineers on technical decisions.
- Coordinate with various disciplines required for project implementation.
- Write and review technical reports, and construction specifications.
- Site investigation, inspection, and evaluate conditions of existing structures.
- Occasional travel to various client sites, attend project meetings and conduct field reviews.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) within the Province of Ontario in Civil or Structural Engineering;
- Between 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in the design of concrete and steel structures in Canada;
- Possess in depth or broad knowledge, skills and practices for mining and/or industrial projects;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs;
- Proficiency in application of Canadian Codes and Standards; and
- Proficiency in structural design software S-Frame, Staad Pro, or SAP.
