This role involves providing personalized financial guidance, interpreting institutional and government policies, and maintaining a positive, customer-focused approach to service. Key skills include strong communication, financial analysis, and problem-solving abilities.Location: Edmonton,ABCompensation: 39000Job Type: Full Time, PermanentExpected Start Date: 25th November 2024Your Day to Day:Specifically, the Student Financial Planner will be responsible for:
- Working with students to develop payment and financial assistance plans incorporating government funding, College scholarships and personal resources
- Providing information, guidance and assistance to students on funding and the financial aid application process
- Managing the financial aid application processes for the campus
- Ensuring compliance with internal and external policies, procedures and standards
- Supporting the administrative functions of the campus to enhance the student experience
- Acting in a manner that upholds the College standards
What You Bring to the Table:To succeed in the Student Financial Planner role, candidates should demonstrate the following qualifications and skills: * Completion of post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, or Finance is required, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred. An equivalent mix of education and experience may be considered.
- At least one year of accounting or finance experience in a service-oriented environment.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication abilities, with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- A positive, customer-focused approach, capable of handling pressure calmly, and maintaining professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
- Good judgment for prioritizing tasks, effective problem-solving and negotiation abilities, teamwork spirit, and the capacity to apply and interpret College and government policies.
Bonus Points For:
- Advanced Financial Analysis Skills: Familiarity with financial forecasting, budgeting, or other advanced financial analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of Financial Aid Regulations: Understanding of government and institutional financial aid programs and regulations to assist students accurately.
