These are some of the reasons we are known as an employer of choice.About the position:The supervisor construction represents the owner in the supervision of construction and major renovation work in addition to ensuring that the work is performed in accordance with safety standards, drawings and specifications, budgets and deadlines. The incumbent also serves as a resource person in the construction group and with outside stakeholders. They supervise the senior construction coordinator with respect to the operational plan and human resources.Responsibilities:

  • Participates actively in coordination meetings with engineers to pinpoint and effectively respond to construction requirements;
  • Manages contractors to coordinate and authorize the workers needed for a given project;
  • Participates in the personnel hiring process with the engineering manager for the construction group and validates time sheets;
  • Coordinates the work done by all professionals, laboratories and specialized firms who are involved on site;
  • Ensures that work inspections are performed and coordinated with stakeholders;
  • Maintains a daily log of worksite activities and a daily photo log of the work;
  • Plans and attends worksite meetings;
  • Coordinates the planning of work by contractors (work schedule, personnel required, tools, bulk materials), taking into account construction and vacation periods;
  • Ensures that the construction materials received are compliant and supports the purchasing group in the choice of suppliers;
  • Ensures that fixed-price contracts are compliant, initiates extensive changes and negotiates with the project manager;
  • Coordinates various work aspects: quality control, work performance with the operational and maintenance groups, permit acquisition and several others;
  • Helps with the preparation of capital budgets.

The incumbent may be required to travel to various Valero sites, as required.Qualifications

  • Training in a relevant field combined with appropriate professional experience which reflect the competency needed for the position;
  • 8 to 10 years’ experience in the construction industry;
  • Knowledge of the industrial field;
  • Functional bilingualism both orally and written;
  • Ability to manage priorities, comply with deadlines and manage pressure in a changing work environment;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Valero Energy Inc. is governed by the Charter of the French Language. However, knowledge of English is considered necessary for performing the tasks of this position.
