- Direct and control of all surveying services.
- Responsible for evaluation and standardization of survey methods.
- Accountable for safety policies and safety issues as they relate to the surveying field.
- Manage a variety of survey projects, including management of resources and people.
- Review and Integrate technological opportunities as they apply to the surveying industry.
- Work with internal Quality Assurance staff to ensure that all client’s needs are being met.
- Manage sustainability of the survey team, work with Human Resources to develop and maintain hiring strategies which are driven towards acquiring and sustaining quality long term employees.
- Manage training courses and seminars to ensure survey supervision stays current with new technological opportunities.
- Meet with regional survey staff on an ongoing basis to monitor and ensure that survey procedures and safety protocol are being followed.
- Support corporate goals of utilizing machine control technology to improve operations productivity and efficiency.
- Manage all survey equipment purchasing, repair, and potential improvement.
- Support Asset Management on all machine control acquisition, manage all machine control equipment.
- Forecast monthly/yearly budget for survey department including equipment repair, IT services, equipment purchasing.
Qualifications:What Makes You the ONE
- 7+ years of experience in land surveying or construction surveying, with industrial construction and/or mining experience preferred.
- 3+ years experience of managing surveyors and survey equipment.
- Degree or diploma in Geomatics or Survey Engineering required. Registered Land Surveyor license or related qualifications will be considered an asset.
- Experienced with RTK GNSS and Total station, and 3D scanners
- Highly proficient with construction staking (roads, corridors, piping, slopes, etc.) and as-built/topographic surveys
- Experience with Trimble survey equipment considered an asset
- Experience with volume calculation and design calculations in AutoCAD considered an asset.
- Transport Canada RPAS Advanced (Drone) license along with 25+ hrs experience flying multi-rotor drones will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of required Health and Safety regulations.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
