Your future starts now at Empower Simcoe.We are presently accepting resumes for a permanent full-time Treatment Home Support Worker Awake Nights to provide quality supports to individuals residing in the Treatment Home during awake overnight shift. Follow identified strategies in treatment plans to meet the direct needs of the individuals living in the home, in accordance with the policies and procedures of Empower Simcoe and legislative requirements.Compensation package:

  • Work up to 42 hours per week, working 12-hour shifts;
  • Required to work weekends and public holidays as scheduled;
  • Minimum starting rate of pay is $33.33 per hour;

Following the successful completion of a 3-month probationary period:

Minimum requirements for this position include:

  • Community College Diploma in Social Services or a closely related field from an acceptable accredited college. Educational focus in Behavioural Sciences, Psychology, Police Foundations, Child and youth Worker, Developmental Services Worker, Social Services Worker, etc.
  • Registered Behavioural Technician certificate an asset
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent full-time work experience supporting hard to serve adults with complex care needs in community residential settings
  • Experience supporting people with behaviour management techniques is an asset
  • Experience supporting teams with the implementation of clinical and/or treatment plans in collaboration with leadership, community partners and families
  • Extensive experience in supporting persons through applied behaviour management techniques are a critical part of this role

Special factors:

  • Demonstrate the ability to respond effectively and calmly in crisis situations through various approved verbal de-escalation and physical intervention techniques. Position requires considerable physical interventions involving frequent bending, turning, twisting, and kneeling in response to crisis behaviour
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Proficient in the administration of first aid, CPR, NVCI, and medication dispensing
  • Valid class G driver’s license and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment
  • Must be prepared to work flexible hours as required

Duties and responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Acting as part of support team for individuals supported
  • Demonstrating a clear understanding of the requirements for data collection and implement for all treatment plans
  • Participating in the supported individuals’ goal planning in accordance with the desire of the individual and in conjunction with the Site Coordinator and Supervisor
  • Implementing the individual Support Plan (ISP) in conjunction with the individual and their team; assist the individual to attain the goals stated in their ISP
  • Fostering the independence of those supported in the program and actively participate in transition planning for people supported and their families
  • Acting as an appropriate role model
  • Demonstrating a clear understanding of standards and ability to apply: SMG techniques in preventing and managing behavioural crises, personal safety and SMG physical intervention techniques as outlined in SMG training
  • Ensuring attendance and successful completion of SMG training at a minimum of once a year or more frequently as determined by Supervisor
  • Demonstrating a clear understanding to ensure implementation of all safety protocols for each person supported ensuing the health and safety of people supported, staff, visitors and community
  • Providing appropriate supports to meet the physical, medical, and emotional needs of all supported individuals, i.e.: doctor’s appointments, medical reviews
  • As part of clinical duties, providing reports, data overview on approved clinical interventions
  • Completing all required documentation in a timely and effective manner, as outlined in Documentation Due reports and as requested by the Supervisor
  • Demonstrating a clear understanding and implementation of all treatment plans, related protocols and data collection required
  • Maintaining healthy professional boundaries when supporting people and their families
  • Demonstrating initiative by anticipating and preparing for problem solving and preventative strategies
  • Facilitating family participation in individuals’ life
  • Fully participating in internal team meetings to provide input into and get clarification of all treatment plans and related protocols
  • Liaising with clinical professionals, collect appropriate data, and actively carry out appropriately prescribed programs & treatments to address the clinical, behavioural and/or mental health needs of people supported
  • Providing input to and participate in Multidisciplinary team meetings (internal/external) at the request of the Site Coordinator/ Supervisor in the development of crisis management protocols
  • Supporting people with their budgeting, banking and purchases as may be requested or required and completing necessary Agency documentation
  • Providing assistance to individuals during the night and early morning routines
  • Providing crisis management during night time
  • Assisting with household routines such as cleaning, cooking, and minor maintenance
