For more information on diversity and inclusion, please visit:The Canmore Nordic Centre (CNC) is an internationally recognized venue for biathlon, cross country skiing, mountain biking and trail running. In addition to being the host site of the national cross country and biathlon teams, this Provincial Park hosts over almost weekly large scale sporting events and hosts hundreds of wedding ceremonies, meetings and facility bookings annually. Combined, this results in high visitation exceeding 850,000 visits per year. To learn more about Canmore Nordic Centre provincial Park and what it has to offer, follow this link: .Role ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible for providing a full range of visitor services to meet expectations of guests, partners, and stakeholders while contributing to the financial and administrative oversight of the park in alignment with the Canmore Nordic Centre vision for year-round recreational and training opportunities by:Providing excellent customer service by leading, supervising, and managing the Visitor Services Team and the Visitor Information counter:

  • Creating position descriptions for salary and wage Visitor Information Centre (VIC) staff.
  • Training staff to ensure they are capable of their individual roles with minimal support.
  • Regular staff check ins and performance assessments/reviews.
  • Ensuring the VIC is well-equipped with supplies for each season.

Improving awareness of the opportunities at Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park and communication to visitors within the park (wayfinding, signage, mapping, website updates and Social Media content creation in alignment with AB Parks).Processing revenue / Accounts receivable:

  • Weekly financial reconciliations of the Visitor Information Counter point of sale terminals (Preparing and submitting deposits and financial revenue forms).
  • Administrating and reconciling P-Card monthly statements.
  • Reviewing and updating revenue spreadsheets with Area Manager and Regional Controller.
  • Maintain program area revenue statistical data.

Processing revenue / Accounts payable:

  • Coding and submitting invoices to financial database (1GX).
  • Enter contract payments.
  • Run monthly 1GX revenue reports for general revenue (GRF) and dedicated revenue (DRF).
  • Monitor, balance and forecast the GRF/DRF budgets on a monthly basis.
  • Complete Fiscal end duties.
  • Administrating and maintaining accurate record keeping of new and existing Business Partners.

Development and maintenance of the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park’s area budget whilst implementing and maintaining the Canmore Nordic Centre revenue collection and reporting systems:

  • Monitoring and forecasting expenditures.

Providing input to other leadership team members to optimize collaboration and efficiency in the overall operation of the facility. Additionally, the nature of outdoor sports requires an agility to respond to rapidly changing conditions while ensuring quality of experience and public safety.Develop Self and Others – The Visitor Services Supervisor is responsible for the development and implementation of staff hiring, development and retention strategies as well as the annual operation of this specialized facility.QualificationsEducation and Experience:

  • University degree (4 years) required; no experience required. Supervisory experience will be an added advantage.

Equivalencies: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Assets:

  • Extensive financial experience.
  • Class 5 Driver’s license.
  • Experience with client databases and basic MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Nordic skiing, biathlon, mountain biking, trail running and the broader Bow Valley, and Kananaskis Area.
  • Knowledge of government policies and procedures including Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS to ensure consistency and compliance with interacting with other departments.
  • Knowledge of sales systems including point of sale, membership and facility booking systems.
  • Knowledge of mapping, GIS, web updates, and social media.
