Job description: Assistant ControllerOur Calgary client is currently seeking an Assistant Controller to join their team. Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for the oversight of the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Accounting functions. In addition to managing daily accounting operations month-end close activities, this role will have the unique opportunity to build out the accounting team for the corporate office.Your success will be defined by your ability to:

• Support the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations.
• Analyze and manage key P&L and Balance Sheet accounts.
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end closings.
• Collaborate across departments to enhance financial operations and address issues.
• Improve policies and procedures with a focus on efficiency and automation.
• Supervise, develop, and evaluate direct reports.
• Resolve financial inquiries from internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
• Support Treasury functions with payment approvals and banking activities.
• Travel for meetings, training, and business needs as required.

Your strengths include:

• 3+ years of general accounting experience or related.
• Post-secondary degree in a related discipline.
• Designated Accountant or nearing completion of an accounting designation.
• Experience in a leadership, supervisory, or coaching role.
• Working knowledge of general accounting principles and standards.
