What You’ll Do

• Maintain accounting records for capital expenditures, leases, and government reporting (e.g., Capital Maintenance and Renewal).
• Advise on capital accounting treatment and support updates to asset management policies.
• Prepare reconciliations, financial schedules, and audit documentation for capital projects.
• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end journal entries and reconciliations.
• Partner with project managers and finance staff to monitor budgets, variances, and cash flow.
• Review invoices and contracts to ensure proper reporting according to PSAS.
• Track capital asset lifecycle from acquisition to disposal, including AUC transitions and inventory reviews.
• Support financial processes related to Facilities and Services projects.
• Ensure accuracy in project cost tracking, forecasting, and expenditure accruals.
• Prepare and submit project-based government reports and financial data.
• Advise on financial treatment for new project proposals.
• Lead and support ad hoc analysis and cross-functional financial initiatives.
• Deliver technical accounting guidance and training for new Facilities and Services staff.
• Stay current on evolving accounting standards and recommend best practices.
• Contribute to documentation, process improvements, and internal control measures.

Requirements:What You Bring

• Strong knowledge of capital accounting, financial reporting, and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS).
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data with high attention to detail.
• Experience working with large-scale projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills-you can explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
• Proficiency in ERP systems, Excel, and financial modeling.

Bonus Points If You Have

• CPA designation or working towards one.
• Experience in a public sector, academic, or institutional finance environment.
• Familiarity with asset management systems and project lifecycle costing.

Expected salary: $90000 – 110000 per year
