Job description: Position SummaryReporting to the Supervisor, Taxation and Accounts Receivable and overseen by the Manager, Finance, the Cashier and Administrative Support Representative is responsible for processing and reconciling all payments for the County, data entry, supporting Finance and providing excellent customer service. The Cashier and Administrative Support Representative ensures that all information handled is accurate and that confidentiality is maintained.Core AccountabilitiesCashiering and Administrative SupportProvides exceptional customer service to the public as the County’s first point of contact by answering inquiries at the front counter, by email, and over the phone.Provides for the cash functions as Cashier, using the financial system to receive and record payments on all amounts due to the County.Prepare and balance daily cash receipt batches for all payment and system types, cash receipt adjustments, refunds, cheque requisitions and journal entries.Receiving and distributing mail, faxes, and emails to the appropriate department or staff.Assist with preparing letters, reports, forms, memos, workbooks, and other materials.Scans source documents into electronic media and files and shreds documents as required.Process and research returned mail.To perform backup duties for Accounts Receivable and Taxation as required.Lead by example, by providing superior customer service as well as following and promoting industry best practices and County values and objectives.Perform other administrative duties and special projects as assigned.Position RequirementsCompletion of certification in finance, accounting, or related education, along with a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible and diversified experience in customer service and data entry.High attention to detail.Must be bondable. As a position with potential high-risk exposure to theft or fraud, a criminal record check is required.Good keyboarding and mathematical skills.Strong organizational skills.Demonstrated superior customer service skills.Good verbal communication skills.Comfortable working on computers and filing systems.Ability to stay focused on repetitive tasks and process a large volume of work with a high degree of accuracy.Demonstrated cooperative team player, maintaining a positive attitude and fostering a positive work environment.Demonstrates knowledge of a municipal government organization and maintains a working knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and functions.Demonstrates superior customer service skills to both internal and external customers.
