Our Strength is People.” is a true expression of our belief that our people are our competitive advantage.ArcelorMittal Dofasco Job PostingFinancial DepartmentFinancial Accountant / Senior Financial Accountant(12-month Contract)Overall Responsibility:Perform a range of accounting and consolidation functions, including maintaining certain aspects of the general ledger; ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Corporate standards; supporting monthly/quarterly/annual reporting; and continuous improvement of financial reporting methodology.Accountabilities:

  • Timely and accurate preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure that transactions are recorded properly, with a focus on intercompany transactions.
  • Accurate preparation and review of the monthly financial reporting package issued through ArcelorMittal’s consolidation and reporting system and efficiently respond to any follow-up questions.
  • Receive financial information from other areas within finance and other departments and process and analyze that information to facilitate the timely and accurate preparation of the financial statements and related reporting.
  • Timely and accurate preparation of certain monthly and quarterly financial information to management.
  • Preparation of compiled financial information and reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Documentation, analysis, and support of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx) and external audit requirements and generally support a robust internal control environment.
  • Implementation of changes in accounting policies.
  • Understand the implications of new and unusual transactions within the assigned month end accounting duties.
  • Identify and implement process and system improvements.
  • Ad hoc analysis and special projects as required.

Education & Accreditation:

  • Completion of a university degree in Accounting or Commerce with a major in Accounting, and a minimum of 3 years of related work experience is preferred.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is an asset.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of financial accounting and internal controls over financial accounting
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS including technical accounting and reporting requirements
  • SAP system experience is an asset
  • Results oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset

Work Environment:This position requires being onsite four days a week, with the option to work from home one day per week.Hours of Work:Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads.Total Rewards at ArcelorMittal Dofasco
