Job description: Forbes Bros Ltd. is looking for an experienced Intermediate Accountant to join our team!Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, this role plays a key part in our Finance team, supporting financial accountability and controls for our operating entities across North America. The Intermediate Accountant will also uphold Forbes’ strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all provincial and federal regulations, company policies, and internal controls while maintaining the highest level of professionalism. Key Responsibilities:
- Complete monthly account reconciliations for Canadian and U.S. companies
- Reconcile various accounts for Canadian and U.S. companies.
- Prepare financial statements for the Shared services departments
- Reconcile payroll accounts for US Entities
- Maintain fixed asset depreciation and capital lease schedules
- Serve as backup for weekly regional AR reporting
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Assist in regulatory audits and annual audit process
- Support the AR function as a back up to Post daily cash receipts
- Other accounting related functions as assigned
What We Are Looking For:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
- 2-4 years of related accounting experience is required
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and computerized accounting systems
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including VLOOKUP, Pivot Table, IF Functions)
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent excel skills
- Ability to work independently, as well as within a team environment.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast pace and changing environment
- Strong work ethic with a positive, energetic attitude
